Learn How to Use FOLS Cost Model Free Web Conference October 25th

Arlington, Va., October 17, 2005: Please join the Telecommunication Industry Associations Fiber Optics LAN Section (FOLS) for a live Web conference on its new Premises Cost Model. The model is a tool that can be used to help compare installed first costs for three different standards-compliant architectures, allowing users to determine the most cost-effective choice for their application. The model features three architectures: hierarchical star, centralized cabling and fiber-to-the-telecom enclosure (FTTE).

The Web conference will be held on Tuesday, October 25th, 1:00-2:30 p.m. EST. You can register online for the conference at: http://www.fols.org/news/event.cfm?id=47. There is no charge to attend.

We encourage you to download the model and supporting documentation prior to the meeting. It is posted on the FOLS Web site at http://www.fols.org/resources/costmodel_reg.cfm as a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet. The documents can be downloaded at no cost (registration is required).

During the Web conference we will discuss the market changes that prompted FOLS members to develop a third generation model, review the three featured architectures, discuss the sample scenarios and describe how to customize the model for your own use. There will be time for Q&As at the end. Leading the Web conference will be FOLS Chair Gary Cawley and FOLS Vice Chair Dan Harman.
